the more you f around, šµļø the more you find out
Hi friends, in this weekās edition of the newsletter, we have:
quote of the day
happy thanksgiving!
a ācustomer-centricā rant just for you, bb.
š£ļø quote of the day
āAs you can see, the more you f*%# around, the more youāre gonna find out.ā ā a whiteboard guy on the internet.
š¦ happy thanksgiving everyone!
Sup yāall! Iām gonna go see my fam in Ohio for turkey day. how about u? :) A common sentiment Iām sensing is that Thanksgiving can be an emotionally draining time of year.
Especially for those who donāt feel accepted by family, who have less than stellar relationships with them, or who donāt get a chance to spend time with loved ones during this holiday (for a variety of reasons).
This is your sign to prioritize your wellbeing during this time of the year. Hereās a helpful IG reel that discusses ā9 tips to survive the holidays with your stupid family.ā You can also look him up on IG as: @therapyjeff
š„ļø marketing corner: stop saying youāre ācuSTOmeR CEntRicā.
Letās talk about customer-centricity. Tbh, Iāve started to roll my eyes when people say they are ācuSTOmeR CEntRicā š because so few organizations are actually putting this into action. The definition of customer-centric:
Itās a strategy and culture of doing business that focuses on creating the best experience for the customer, and by doing so, builds brand loyalty.
Itās not a destination, itās a habit. And according to SurveyMonkey Data, customer-centricity is vital to both the customers and the employees that work for said companies.
How Iām putting this into action in my current role
Customer-centricity means giving the people what they want! At work, I help run social media and we passed 1k followers on TikTok a while ago. This means weāre now able to go on TikTok Live.
The question was: How should we run our TikTok Lives?
People were suggesting this: letās do a live with an influencer and talk about how amazing our product is. I said nah, fam. I mean we could do that, but if we truly are customer-centric, weād know that many of our customers use our social media to ask customer service questions. To be customer-centric is to meet their needs.
So next week, Iām pitching to our CEO. Iāll propose that one of our customer service reps do TikTok Lives in which we answer questions from the audience. To many at my company, itās uncomfortable because, āwhat if it doesnāt go as planned and we get negative comments?ā. My answer is, weāll deal with it, and use it to improve our products and services. Itās only a failure if we donāt learn from it.
Wish me luck with my pitch!!
I want to challenge youā¦marketer
I challenge you all that are working within marketing or within other areas of business, to ask the tough questions within your organizations. If your company says they are adopting customer-centricityā¦KEEP. THEM. ACCOUNTABLE. For instance, how are you putting that into action with day-to-day decisions?
Because at the end of the day, who wants to work for a company that has a sucky product, or a crappy customer experience? It makes our jobs as marketers 1000x harder.
End rant.
I like the idea of making newsletter content because itās a small, close-knit community that reads my stuff. I donāt have an algorithm that Iām trying to game to go āviralā. That being said, the only way for my newsletter to reach more people is by way of sharing. If at any point I provide you with value that you think is worth sharing, would you please smash that āshareā button and maybe spread the word with you marketing homies? š Gracias!
